Azurite and Malachite

This is classic material from Bisbee, Arizona, of rich blue azurite and bright green malachite. It came from old material that would have been collected, certainly, prior to 1920 if not even earlier. Such material was the best carving rough outside of Russia, for malachite, in the early 1900s. Azurite of this quality, combined with malachite, made Bisbee lapidary carvings even more special. These two minerals are often found in association, and this particular piece of lapidary wonder benefited from the experience and expertise of the man who polished the pieces, Nicolai Medvedev, who had dedicated his artistic career to the highest levels of lapidary works. No treatment. A fine modern carving by a famous modern artists, using very old material over 100 years old.
