Azurite with Malachite

A very special and captivating lapidary material from Morenci, Arizona that is a blend of two distinct and popular gems — the deep, almost lapis-blue of azurite and the variegated green shades of banded malachite. This specimen is predominantly azurite with some minor swirling patches of malachite as a lovely accent. Looks great paired with the polished malachite slice offered in this auction, or as a standalone display gem. This is a stone from old mining times, and was polished by Bud Stanley, an Arizona artist known for and specializing in this material at its best.
