Item Description

Called golden beryl or heliodor, and from the same family as Aquamarine and Emerald, this wonderful pear cut, 9.44 carat gem heliodor is bold, bright, and shows a rich and natural (untreated) color. As with other beryls, top values for heliodor are reserved for gems with high clarity first, and good color a close second. This example gets high marks on both important features! The stone is only very lightly included, and the sizzling golden color is saturated and even throughout. The very good hardness (7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale) also means that it suitable for any jewelry use. Therefore, this stone could be set into a dramatic piece of custom jewelry or as an eye-catching mate for a rough-and-cut set. (N)
