Item Description

Malachite is a beautiful and enticing lapidary material, and in a high quality can be both a collector stone and a wearable item. Its rich, swirling patterned coloration in shades of green is unique among gems, and many people consider it a "gem" despite its softness compared to the fancier gemstones: The lower hardness (3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale) makes it easy to work, and it takes a polish very well. These features are well exemplified in this substantial, polished slice of Arizona malachite that makes a stunning display item. Nature’s art at its finest and a great cross-over collectible for gem and mineral enthusiasts alike. Cut and polished by Bud Stanley, noted Arizona carver for many decades.
