Quartz with Inclusions

There is a lot of quartz out there with inclusions of various types, however, this one is very unique! It is a nearly triangular piece of totally colorless and transparent quartz that hosts a large complex inclusion. If the gem quartz isn't enough, the inclusion itself is completely captivating with its intricate internal texture and diverse coloring. The dove gray and brown-red inclusion is completely encased in the quartz and consists of wavy, almost paper-thin, parallel laminae that have tiny (less than 1 mm), tufts of an off-white mineral distributed along them that can only be appreciated with the use of a loupe or binocular microscope. These tufts are fascinating in their appearance and distribution! Further examination shows longer, arcuate, bronze colored, hair-like needles emanating from some of the tufts and they span 0.5 to 1 cm out into the quartz. We aren't sure what the tiny tufts are, but the hair-like needles are probably rutile. This is just an enchanting piece of polished quartz that obviously has a complex history resulting in an exoctic appearance! Untreated.
