Rhodochrosite is Argentina's national gemstone, and material from Capillitas is prized for the distinct, concentric growth patterns shown here. The rhodochrosite forms as stalactites, with multiple centers that eventually fuses together over time as the individual stalactites grow and connect. This pear-shaped cabochon shows over a dozen stalactite centers, all naturally merged together over time! No treatment.
