Tsavorite is a deep-green (due to trace vanadium or chromium) gem variety of grossular garnet that was discovered in Tanzania in 1967 by noted gem prospector and geologist, Campbell Bridges; and is named after the Tsavo National Park near where it was discovered. To this day, his family continues to mine and distribute this valuable gem material. This 1+ carat, cushion-cut tsavorite gem is the perfect size and shape for an elegant center stone in the finest jewelry, or to pair with a natural crystal for a stunning “rough and cut” display. Note that 1-2 carat fine gems have become difficult to source. This is a superb stone of collector quality for the size, not merely a "jewelry stone" at all.
